Newcomers are Starting to Flock to IKN Nusantara in East Kalimantan

Until August 2022, it was recorded that there had been an addition of 2,000 new arrivals to Sepaku, East Kalimantan.

The Acting Sub-district Head of Sepaku, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, Adi Kustaman, stated that the construction of roads in the National Capital of the Archipelago or IKN Nusantara had an impact on increasing the number of residents around the IKN area.

Local government data noted that until August 2022 there had been an additional 2,000 migrants who entered and settled around IKN, especially in the Sepaku sub-district.

"Yes, since the President's announcement, there has been an increase in the number of residents in our area, but only a little and not too significant," said Adi Kustaman to the media crew in the IKN Zero Point area, Wednesday morning (10/8/2022).

Adi admitted that currently the number of residents around the IKN area, especially those in Sepaku District, has reached 37,800 people, with the addition of these 2,000 migrants, there has been a 5% increase in the population. This number is admittedly quite high when compared to previous years.

However, the local government, through the sub-district and village government, will not apply certain restrictions to anticipate a surge in the number of residents around the IKN area. His party only urges migrants to immediately report to the head of the RT or local village head if they intend to stay or stay for more than 2 X 24 hours. (antara, beritasatu)
