An increase in the budget is needed for the modernization of Indonesia's defense.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the estimated defense budget for Indonesia in 2030 is Rp 545 trillion.
Coordinating Minister Luhut said an increase in the budget was needed to modernize Indonesia's defense.
"So a great defense system, training of troops, mastery of technology, facilities for soldiers, houses and so on as well as welfare must occur with this large number. And an increase in the budget is necessary for modernizing defense," said Luhut at the National Gathering of the Indonesian Army Retired Association (PPAD) ) In 2022, at the Sentul International Convention Center in Bogor, as broadcast on PPAD TNI YouTube, Friday (5/8/2022).
Luhut added that the increase in the defense budget also aims to support strong economic development in the future. Because according to him, currently Indonesia is still weak in terms of the defense and security economy.
Luhut admits that the economic development pursued by the government for the past eight years has not been perfect. So even though there are positive achievements, they still need to be improved continuously. Therefore, Luhut asks that all parties are not easily divided. (ppad, kompas)
