Jokowi said that Indonesia has several strengths that are believed to be great opportunities to build an Indonesia that is inclusive, just and sustainable.
President Jokowi conveyed this in his speech at the Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI in 2022, Tuesday (16/8/2022).
"With these great strengths and opportunities, we have a great opportunity to build an Indonesia that is inclusive, just and sustainable," said Jokowi.
Jokowi said the first strength was Indonesia's ability to deal with global crises, including controlling the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jokowi said Indonesia is among the top five countries with the most vaccinations in the world. In addition, Indonesia's economic fundamentals also remain very good despite the turmoil in the world economy.
The second strength is abundant natural resources. Jokowi explained that Indonesia has a large area with the richest biodiversity in the world. If managed wisely and sustainably, he believes it can become a great power for Indonesia.
"The condition is one, it must be exported and industrialized domestically, so that the added value can be maximized for the national interest," he said.
Then the third strength is the demographic bonus. The very large population and dominated by young people of productive age, as well as the increasing purchasing power of the people will become the driving force of the national economy in facing global competition.
"The fourth strength is international trust which has risen sharply," Jokowi said.
This is shown by the acceptance of Indonesia by Russia and Ukraine as a bridge for peace. In addition, he also said that Indonesia was accepted by big countries even though geopolitics was heating up.
Jokowi said that Indonesia was also trusted by the United Nations as a Champions from the Global Crisis Response Group for handling global crises. This year, Indonesia also became President of the G20, the organization of the 20 largest economies in the world. And next year, become the Chair of ASEAN. (between, setpres)
