President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has invited Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto to run as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
Jokowi said this when responding to the issue that he had given his blessing to Defense Minister Prabowo as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
"I think, because I told you, when I said no. No, it's not like that. Yes, please," said Jokowi in Jakarta, Friday (12/8).
Jokowi said that the democratic system is like that. It is impossible for him, as President, to say no when a minister conveys his wish to run for the presidential election.
"Please that it is interpreted as a blessing. Yes, go ahead," said President Jokowi.
Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party DPP Ahmad Muzani said the Gerindra Party National Meeting which was attended by 8,500 cadres wanted Prabowo Subianto to run as a presidential candidate. The National Meeting was held at the Sentul International Convention Center, West Java, Friday (12/8).
