President Director of PT Biotis Pharmaceuticals Indonesia, FX Sudirman, stated that the Merah Putih vaccine developed by Universitas Airlangga and PT Biotis Pharmaceuticals is targeted to be launched in September 2022.
Meanwhile, this domestically-made vaccine is planned to start mass production in July 2022.
Sudirman added that the development of the Red and White Vaccine is currently in the phase 1 and 2 clinical trials. The phase 3 clinical trial is targeted to start on June 6, 2022.
After the clinical trials are completed, Sudirman hopes that the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) can issue an emergency use authorization (UAE) in August 2022.
"We can do mass production of the Red and White Vaccine in July 2022, although we haven't received the UAE yet," Sudirman said in a meeting with Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (31/5/2022).
If all the planning goes smoothly, he continued, then the Red and White Vaccine can be released in early September 2022. "We hope that in September 2022 we can do the first product release," he said.
Meanwhile, the other Red and White Vaccine that was developed by the Eijkman Institute with PT Bio Farma, is currently being tested for immunogenicity on animals.
