KASAL Inaugurates the Domestically Made KRI Teluk Calang-524 Transport Ship

KRI Teluk Calang-524 has specifications with a length of 120 meters, a width of 18 meters, a draft of 3 meters (full load) and a weight of 4,508 tons.

The Chief of Naval Staff (KASAL) Admiral Yudo Margono inaugurated the Republic of Indonesia Warship (KRI) Teluk Calang-524 produced by PT Daya Radar Utama. This seventh type of tank transport ship was inaugurated at JICT 2 Pier, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Monday (8/8/2022) afternoon.

Yudo Margono explained that the construction of this ship has an important meaning as part of the realization of modernization and meeting the needs of the main weapon system equipment (defense equipment).

"The construction of ships in domestic shipyards is a manifestation of the commitment of the Navy leadership to support and succeed in government programs, namely increasing the use of domestic production and the independence of the domestic defense industry," said Yudo.

On this occasion, Yudo also confirmed Marine Lieutenant Colonel (F) Bagus Waluya as the first commander of KRI Teluk Calang-524.

After this inauguration, KRI Teluk Calang-524 will strengthen the Military Sea Crossing Unit I under the Military Sea Cross Command (Kolinlamil).

KRI Teluk Calang-524 has specifications with a length of 120 meters, a width of 18 meters, a draft of 3 meters (full load) and a weight of 4,508 tons.

The vessel has a maximum speed of 16 knots, a cruising speed of 14.8 knots, and an economic speed of 13.6 knots. This ship has a cruising capability of up to 7,200 nautical miles (nm) and is equipped with 2 x 40 mm cannon and 2 x 12.7 mm cannon.

In addition, KRI Teluk Calang-524 can also carry 10 Leopard tanks belonging to the Army, 1 Panzer 2 AVBL, 1 transporter and 2 helicopters. This ship can accommodate 361 soldiers, 120 crew members and 6 helicopter crews. (tnial, antara)
