The three foundations; infrastructure, industrial downstreaming, and digitizing MSMEs.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) targets Indonesia to be included in the world's seven major economic powers by 2030.
Jokowi stated that to achieve Indonesia's target of becoming the world's top 7 economic powers, the government is preparing three foundations.
The first foundation to be prepared is infrastructure. Jokowi said that in the last seven years, toll roads in Indonesia have added 2,042 kilometers, 5,500 new airport non-toll roads, 15 new ports, 18 new dams, and 38 new irrigations covering an area of 1.1 million hectares.
"The impact of this infrastructure will only be felt in the next 5-10 years. Maybe we can't feel it instantly now and the effect will be on the state budget," said Jokowi when opening the National Gathering of the Indonesian Army Retired Army Association at the Bogor Palace, West Java, Friday, 5 August 2022.
The second foundation is a focus on industrial downstreaming. Through this method, Indonesia no longer exports raw materials, but processed materials from mining products.
One example of exporting raw materials was when Freeport was still held by foreigners. In 2014 the value of exports that Indonesia received from Freeport was Rp. 15 trillion. However, when Freeport's shares were majority controlled by the government in 2017, Indonesia downstreamed the industry with an export profit of IDR 300 trillion.
The third foundation is the digitization of MSMEs. According to Jokowi, there are 65.4 million MSMEs that contribute to economic growth of up to 61 percent.
Jokowi believes that by logging into digital platforms, the Indonesian economy can jump from the current 30th order to 7th in the world in 2030. (between)
