The booster vaccine can increase immunity up to two times compared to the second dose.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the current condition of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia had been sloping. Community activities have started to return to normal and the economy is moving again.
"Of course all of this is thanks to our success in controlling Covid-19 well," said Jokowi in his statement regarding the Covid-19 vaccination which was broadcast through the Presidential Secretariat's Youtube channel, Monday (30/5/2022).
Nevertheless, Jokowi reminded the public not to be careless. This recovery momentum must be maintained properly. Therefore, he asked the public to continue to carry out two doses of Covid-19 vaccination and also a booster vaccination to prevent transmission.
He emphasized that the Covid-19 booster vaccination was very important. Based on data from the Ministry of Health, booster vaccination can increase immunity up to two times compared to the second dose.
"This booster vaccination is also needed to protect the elderly and vulnerable or comorbid community groups from transmitting Covid-19," he said.
The President also emphasized that the current stock of Covid-19 vaccines from the government for booster vaccinations is more than sufficient. Therefore, he asked the public to immediately take advantage of this free Covid-19 vaccine facility and jointly maintain current conditions so that Indonesia will recover.
"And don't be picky about the type of vaccine because all vaccines have the same benefits. To protect us all from the Covid-19 pandemic," he added.
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the policy of easing the use of masks would continue to be monitored. If it is still relatively under control, then it is not impossible that Indonesia can be completely free of masks.
"We are still waiting until mid-June, because usually the increase occurs 30-35 days after the implementation of this policy, if the case is relatively better, we will also conduct another survey in June, if the results are good, hopefully it can be done gradually. we are doing relaxation," Budi said in a statement quoted on Monday.
The Minister of Health also appealed to the public to immediately get a complete dose of vaccination and a Covid-19 booster at health service facilities and the nearest vaccination service post.
The sooner you get vaccinated, the faster your immune system will form. Currently, booster vaccination can be given more quickly, which is 3 months after the second dose is injected. (antara)
